The English pulped some of the Irish records. Then there was a great fire that destroyed more of the Irish records.

However, there is a substantial effort in Ireland to recreate the past, with lots of work on genealogy and DNA testing. That may help fill in some holes.

Let’s hope so. Yeah though, I read about the Four Courts fire of 1922. Damn shame. There were also records that were destroyed during the outbreak of WWI too. Sigh. It’s how history works though. I am very obsessive. I just wish I could name a place so I could hope to visit one day. I do know where specifically in the other countries though and have even done some talking with family there. One even sent me a historical calendar of the village.
