In order to decide winnable we first need to define victory, we could just blow the place to atoms & declare victory… or we could occupy them for for 100 years till they have a McDonald’s on every street. I am guessing the victory lies somewhere between those 2 points.

It’s too large of an area for one nation (other than China like DF suggested) to be able to control. Our euro allies don’t have enough troops to put a dent into the number we would need to pull this off. Personally, I think they should focus on the larger population centers for the next decade and hope for the best.
