Let’s be absolutely blunt:

White nationalist GOPers are the ones who are most hesitant or resistant to taking the vaccine. Period. They refuse on ideological grounds and cannot and will not change their views even in the face of overwhelming evidence, like the fact that there’s no wave of vaccinated people who are getting sick, hospitalized, or dying.

They’d sooner take ivermectin than admit that they’re wrong. They’d sooner die gasping for breath on a ventilator than admit that vaccination was the right way to approach things. Cases are blowing up around the nation because whites are the ones spreading cases far and wide (it takes people who are mobile and able to travel to get the disease spreading as it does).

POC who have been hesitant to get vaccinated are among those who could be convinced to get vaccinated with sufficient buy in and support from the community - like church groups, local political groups, local businesses, etc.

So of course, white GOPers who are bigots are trying to blame the surge in cases in the Gulf Coast states and the South on illegals, which isn’t supported by facts or reality.

One of the ways we know vaccines aren’t causing cases: states with the highest vaccination rates have among the lowest hospitalization rates and lowest death rates during the current surge. New England, which has the highest vaccination rates, has low hospitalization rates.

It’s the dogmatic dumbassery that is doing more to kill people than anything else.
