Men’s Rights Activist. Largely, a group of very sad men that try to push the notion that men are oppressed in society and need some sort of special defense on par with feminism.

I think it’s probably true that some good men get a shit deal from custody battles, but it’s chump change compared to the general shittiness of men towards women for x thousand years, so my reaction is mostly “deal with it”.

“Deal with it” is not how you achieve equality. You do not counter shittiness by saying “It’s okay that shitty things happen to you because you happened to be born into a class that does not generally have it as rough as mine.” Equality is elevating everyone to the same higher place, not dragging everyone down into the same lower place.

This is also why I take umbrage with the notion of ‘privilege’. Yes, certain cases of privilege exist, but I have never seen the concept of ‘privilege’ invoked for any reason other than explaining why it’s okay that shitty things happen to ‘privileged’ groups, or why the shitty things that happen to someone with ‘privilege’ aren’t important.
