re: #269 ElaineBenis
I drive I5 fairly often between Seattle and Portland. Just north of the OR-WA border, Vancouver (aka Vantucky, Confederate flag-flying meth capital of Washington) always has numerous clusters of signs for Trump & down-ticket Republicans along side the road.
We drove thru today and down-ticket candidate signs are still there, but the Trump signs were gone.
Though Nate Silver has my district (NE-3) at R+33.5, I’ve noticed that since the Access Hollywood tape came out the ubiquitous Trump/Pence signs all around the area are gone.
I realise that “polling by yard sign” is not a terribly accurate science, and the three or four counties I roam in the Nebraska Panhandle are only a portion of NE-3, but I wonder if polling is capturing this trend?
The only poll I ever got in an election came only a couple days ago, paraphrasing the questions (the pollster said he would ask about various political positions):
Q - Are you voting for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, or someone else?
Me - Hillary Clinton
Q - (click, dial tone)
That didn’t seem like much of a poll. It sounded more like a push for Donald Trump.
“See? We polled NE-3 and 98% of the respondents approved of my platform”
