Good read from the New Yorker here. This is certainly right on. And this kind of speaks to a weakness by a Senator from Vermont has on the issues. Sorry the premise is basically that the word “ungrateful” is the new “uppity” to describe black people who dare to speak their minds.

Last night I got to meet the only “declared” Dem candidate for 2020, John Delaney. (He has about as much chance of becoming president as I do.) The first thing he said to me was (paraphrasing) Democrats need to stick to what matters to people, and that’s their jobs and their paycheck. That’s what Dems should run on, and they should really focus on that.

I responded that Democrats can walk and chew gum at the same time, and that, while that’s important, there are other things that are as or more important.

He stood there in silence. I don’t think I made a very good first impression—oh well.

His speech continued on that same front—not one word about voter suppression or civil rights or women or healthcare—just “Dems gotta get out and vote and we need to remember those peeps who’ve been forgotten or whose jobs have gone away.”

So sick of the singular focus bullshit—the guy endorsed Hillary, but he sounded just like a Bernie Bro last night.
