for the most part i dont think most of them believe the stuff they spout
they arent really idiots
they do it for effect, or to score points politically or in the media
there are a few really dumb and/or true believers
the rest of them just say nasty, annoying, provocative stuff, yes, that they want their rubes to believe.

whether they themselves ‘believe’ stuff or not i think is besides the point
