Man, this one has hit me harder than some of the others we’ve had recently. My mom, a guitarist, loved Petty and introduced me to his music at a young age. It makes me think of her.
This one is Bowie-level for me.
The Heartbreakers always represented what a real band was supposed to be. So solid, such a complete integration of five talents, led by the skinny guy from Jacksonville.
They were the embodiment of rock-star cool. And they’ll never be replaced.
