Very soon, there will be thousands of miles in the US between abortion clinics. Women will die because they were denied life-saving abortions, as in Ireland, and women who miscarry will be arrested on suspicion of illegal self-abortions. The Handmaid’s Tale is upon us. The Courts will no longer defend our rights; my hope is that even as the Right achieves the goals it has worked decades for, it will trigger a massive electoral backlash by people who can no longer take their rights for granted.
