People freaked out when surveyors from the Army Corps of Engineers went through and basically cut down swathes of brush at the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas to lay down where the border wall would go through back in mid-2017. A lot of damage was done and locals were Not Happy. I went to college with a couple of prominent people in Mission. I’m thinking all hell will break loose if the Trump admin tries to go in by force and take the land for the wall. I think there could be a LOT of local pushback. Virtually all of the border land east of El Paso is privately owned and some of it has been in some families since before Texas became a state.
