I’m confused as to why parents who send their isolated homeschooled children to a Christian survivalist summer camp should be afforded “privacy”, and benefit of the doubt be provided to them, when they are shocked and dismayed when one of those children grows up and starts bombing people and the general public starts demanding answers.

It’s a puzzlement for sure.
