SRSLY. 2018 politics in a nutshell. A business owner admitting that the Trump Administration’s policies are going to seriously hurt his business financially, and probably cause serious economic damage across the whole country and the whole economy: but will still support the Moron-in-Chief because his perception of the alternative Opposition is based on a mashup of cheapjack stereotypes and prejudices. Swell.

I was in MI some months before the election. I had a flat tire and a very nice couple helped me with it. It turned out to be a big deal as the jack broke when we went to use it so getting the car up to take the tire off to put the little temp tire on was a nightmare and the guy had to go to his shop to get a lift. Thankfully he had one because, of course, it was like 7:00 pm on a Sunday night in the middle of fucking nowhere. I used the GPS to find backroads to come back since we were about 80 miles from the border…we wound up driving down unpaved roads for part of this journey..

Anyway, the entire time we heard how much the US needed trump. Like we (with Canadian plates on the car) could do anything. Of course we both shut up because, hey, we were in the middle of nowhere and they were both kind and helpful, but Deliverance kept playing through both of our minds (we discussed it after we were on our way).

The guy owns a small business and every day I wonder if he has been injured by trump and his policies. I think about them often and wonder how they are doing.
