I applied for a job last night that wanted a job salary history. I basically told them it was none of their fucking business. Not in so many words, but I think I did the right thing.

Not really

As a former small business owner, I asked that of all applicants

If they expected and recieved in the past way more than I had budgeted for that position, more often than not I didn’t pursue that candidate any longer (used too, until too many of them rejected my offer because of that and I figured I was wasting my time)

OTOH,, if the applicant was making way (or marginally) less than my budget allowed, I could do one of three things

A) Offer him what he was used too
B) Offer him what I had budgeted
C) Meet somewhere north of the middle making both sides happy

(I most often opted for “C”)
