That’s kind of the point, though. It would be strange for a Muslim to kneel down and pray to Mecca after every touchdown. Why is it somehow okay for a Christian to get on his knees after every scoring play and thank God?

I think negativ got it right in #272 — it’s narcissistic, IMO. It assumes that God is watching that one person score right in that one moment, at the expense of paying attention to actual suffering or bigger issues going on in the world.
