Our SC is stacked with conservatives so this is not surprising.
I was surprised to find this out, but the US is actually less progressive on marriage equality than the next 4 largest countries in the western hemisphere.
Canada, Brazil and Argentina all have full marriage equality nationwide. Even Mexico is ahead of the US. While only 2 of their 31 states have legalized same sex marriage, and 4 others have civil unions, ALL 31 Mexican states recognize such marriages performed in other places. So much for the notion that most Latin Americans are conservative on all social issues because…uh, Catholicism!
