You want to know what naturally born white privilege is? Having no idea how costly and time consuming a process naturalization is. There’s a reason why people hire attorneys like my boss to help them out. It’s not like it is on TV. You don’t just take the test and if you pass, you’re a citizen.

That’s because our media has spent decades trivializing the process of attaining citizenship. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen a movie, or a TV show, read a book that treated becoming a citizen as easy as marrying one. Marry a guy, get a green card, then divorce him. Or show up, take a test, and you get to be a citizen.
