It’s happened quite a bit. At least the Mormons stick to an imaginary history of the Americas. The Swedenborgians have detailed descriptions of the inhabitants of other planets, and the Theosophists have a history of the universe and being that makes the creationists look sober and sensible.

Most people think Mormons are just a different variety of Protestants (the bigamy stuff they know, but just as a minor historical deviation).

The analysts worldwide will have a field day if Romney has a serious run again. Honestly, I doubt that many Mormons will enjoy the scrutiny, Presidential son or not.
