The Democrats aren’t ever going to appeal to the lunatics who think that being Democrats is a moral failure. They do stand to lose ground with decent people if they lower themselves to Trump’s level.

This is really quite a good point, and I think it is the a pillar behind Door’s argument. I just think there is a way to both not lower ourselves to that level AND not just hand them even more of the keys to power because we can’t remember 2016.
