It’s a theological mess. They point to “render unto Caesar” as their excuse to separate the man “representing” their values from the actual values. So, if Don’s wife got an abortion, well, if he’s promoting a pro-life platform, it’s good, because pro-life is of God, not the Caesar government.

Kicker here is Jesus was talking about paying taxes. Saying you should. So….kinda falls apart there.

They also refer to the imperfections of King David as an example of God choosing broken vessels to deliver his message, among others in the Bible. But those people were humble and repentant. Even the kings. And God’s word had nothing to do with abortion, guns, or anything else they point to. The opposite.

It’s not about “God,” never is. It’s about them and what they want. My beliefs are mine and I don’t say God made me do anything. No excuses.
