There were splits and divisions all through Soviet history, Stalin kept a lid on it but they bubbled right back up to the surface after his death: the Russian nationalists vs the Internationalists, the socialist purists vs the market-leaning liberals, the hawks vs the less-hawkish, heck, there was even a budding environmentalist movement in the USSR…

The free love movement too. Right. There’s something fascinating about divides that exist in seemingly dogmatic groups.
