Tiller was singled out for prosecution and ridicule because his actions were the most egregious of abortionists. He performed hundreds of late term abortions at (his price of) $5000 each and without good medical justification. Regardless one’s position, Pro-Life or Choice, Tiller was one bad guy.

Not according to the courts, his detractors charged him many times. The last time time spent a year investigating, four days of court time and the jury took less then a hour to find him innocent. By a pro life definition he was a bad guy, but legally not so much.
