Third-party candidates pretty much don’t have a prayer. If Trump goes third party, he could probably manage to crow about virtually any vote total as evidence of his awesomeness, especially if he got any EC votes. “My third-party campaign made history! My results were yoooger than any other third-party candidate ever!” It would let him do his ego thing even while not coming anywhere near winning the WH.

I doubt he would win enough to beat George Wallace.
