20% hike on basic perishables. Think of all the fresh food that you see in supermarkets. A not insignificant portion comes from Mexico.

Now tack 20% on to the prices. That’s what this does, because where else is the cost getting incorporated.

Oh wait, it’ll also be felt at the gas pump and on transportation too - because we import oil/petroleum products from Mexico. Airfare will also rise in US as will delivery costs.

It will become more expensive to do business in the US as a result of this 20% tax. It’s a tax, regardless of how you call it a border adjustment or tariff. You as an end user will be paying it (the same damned thing that these GOP nuts claim that corporate income taxes get passed on to the consumer).

Tequila sales will take a bath too. Same with Mexican beer.

But hey, enjoy your ~1% income tax cut while the rich make out like bandits.
