I strongly suspect that is the thinking here, that Beijing figures they can just keep twisting the screw until Jan 2021. There’s no pressure on them to make a deal in the short term, while Donny is under serious pressure to make shit happen before the economy collapses. After all, Xi doesn’t have to run for reelection next November…
