Well, after the failed-coup/false-flag coup, Erdogan and his acolytes purged the moderates, secularists, and Kurds out of many public institutions, including the Police. Leaving behind mostly Islamists of various flavours.

It doesn’t matter if this guy was Islamist or not, they could use this to show the failings of Erdogan.
