Self-absorption is the stock in trade of the N.Y. Times. Your quote is an extreme example of the Palestinian version of it. In the Palestinian version, murder of Jews by rocket has become an abstraction. That’s an abomination, but it’s exactly what the N.Y. Times does. It’s just a matter of degree.

Example: “The editors of the N.Y. Times were astonished to learn that Pennsylvanians enjoy hunting and fishing, and that Pennsylvanians will fight to keep their hunting rifles and fly rods.”
