That’s the fantasy version of how the current tea party thing got going. Actually, Ron Paul started doing Tea Party rallies in 2007 or so, and the concept spread, with and without his help, into a libertarian movement disguised as a Republican movement, that still claims on occasion to have Democrats in it.

And in certain areas (mine, for instance), people associated with this crazy bunch were in control of local tea party events. So … yeah, there is a fantasy version of the tea party; and then there’s what really happened.
