Let us take a moment to mourn the extinction of a political species, the Blue Dog. Hunted to the verge of extinction in 2010, one of the last ones that I am aware of, my friend Ben Chandler, has just been bagged by Tea Partyer Andy Barr in the 6th Congressional District in Kentucky. Millions was spent by outside groups to take him down.

It’s worth noting that this is really key. It’s really hard to buy a Presidency or a lot of Senators, as we’re seeing today. But House seats are pretty cheap, and give a lot of power for your money.

The Presidency and Senate don’t look like changing hands, but America’s political power is still very much for sale, and a lot of unpleasant people have deep pockets.
