They’re not really cancelling the primary. They’re just saying they won’t endorse anyone who runs against Trump. And it’s not like the party can stop the individual states from accepting nomination papers from someone getting on the ballot.
If they don’t have a Republican primary, how do their choose candidates for the House and Senate (and maybe in some places statewide offices)?
But if they don’t have a Republican primary, some states allow voters to choose which primary they want to vote in, and those states would then be letting Republican voters help choose the Democratic candidate.
