Actually I think Charles got lucky in a lot of ways.

Not just that he tried MS word, but that there are probably a dozen versions of MS New Times Roman released over the years. There are lots of versions of MS word. There are lots of versions of Windows. He’s lucky that small differences in the versions didn’t make enough changes in the result to confuse people.
