One of the reasons I stopped attending the local megachurch is because the pastor of said church delivered a woeful soliloquy about how he was such a charity case for voluntarily giving up the church’s private jet when the recession hit. I threw up a little in my mouth.

The last time I had to step foot in a church was 1986. My aunt made me go with her to listen to her “Spirit-Filled Preacher” perform a 45 minute sermon about why the rich needed more tax cuts.

The church bulletin had a stuffer from the Republican Party filled with the latest asskissing of St. Ronnie.

I walked out and I never regretted it. It’s been 31 years since I wasted any time in a church pew. On Sunday mornings, I do something more constructive—I go to the gym and work out. Beats sleeping in a church pew listening to the latest Republican Party talking points.

I used to detest Falwell, but there is one big plus that he did—by turning churches into Republican Party cells, millions of people walked out of churches and they will never go back. And more people are leaving those scams every Sunday!
