I would like to kvetch and point out doing the same thing over and over again often produces different results.

That phrase has always bugged me.

I think Einstein was just using that saying as a shorthand for describing people he thought were insane. Seeing as he was a scientist (among other things), I’m guessing he pertained it to those in scientific fields who would continue to conduct experiments that had predictable outcomes, but they kept trying to get something else.

We apply it today in that way. For instance, tax cuts. For every conceivable economic problem, the Republicans propose cutting the taxes of wealthy people, when time and time again it’s been proven to not work, and actually makes things worse.
