My issue with global trade is that we not only have to compete on wages but we have to compete with nations whose safety and economic laws are primitive or simply unenforced.

So not only are we shooting our own selves in the foot, we are giving these other nations no incentive to clean up their act.

And it sounds like the TPP would work counter to that by allowing foreign governments to sue those countries that thy to pass and enforce environmental and safety legislation…
