I guess the problem I had with Al Gore - even though I generally agree with him on climate change - is that I found it somewhat arrogant of him to think that he could totally distance himself from his political background and declare himself an Elder Statesman and politically neutral and apolitical while advocating a cause, even a noble one.

It’s cool as an opinion, but nothing else follows from it (certainly not that Gore was used as a weak, polarizing point by the deniers).
