You can’t make people care.

Indeed, you can’t make people do much of anything. You can’t change another person.

At best we can try to influence those around us.

There is that.

I actually hold the apathists in greater disdain than Republican voters who knew what they were voting for. The GOP voters were convinced of their position and were proud to go out and vote.

Apathists either fall into (a) both sides are the same or (b) neither side (or government) affects me so I don’t care. I throw third-party voters into the apathist camp for that.
