If it’s first woman governor ascending to the office by any means, that would be Carolyn B. Shelton (D-Ore.) who was appointed acting governor over a weekend due to the inability of a successor to take office due to illness, in 1909.

If it’s the first woman elected on her own, it was Nellie Taylor Ross (D-Wyo.) who was elected in a special election when her husband died in office.

The first woman elected in her own right was Ella Grasso (D-Conn.) in 1975.

Madeline Kunin (D-Vt.) 1985-1991 was the only woman to ever serve three terms as a governor.

Joan Finney (D-Kans.) 1991 was the first woman to defeat an incumbent governor.

Kay Orr (R-Nebr.) 1987 was the first Republican woman governor, and the first woman to defeat another woman running for governor in a race.

This stuff is kind of easy to check. The fact that Charlie Kirk puts stuff out there like that indicates he is lying, not misinformed.
