That’s a good point. There’s not much Trump could do that would actually infuriate the GOP base to the point where they’d quit supporting him. The only thing I can think of is Trump supporting some kind of significant gun control legislation.

Actually carry through on his infrastructure plan and spend money in blue states.

That’d be the tipping point.

Otherwise, Trump’s doing exactly what the bigot brigade/deplorable base wants: white nationalist immigration policy? check. white nationalist civil/voting rights policy? check.

Gut the safety net? He keeps trying, so check.
Maximize tax cuts for millionaires? Check
Screw those in need of safety net? Check

Trump is more closely aligned to the base than GOP leadership is, and that’s why the leadership wont speak out when Trump does something so atrociously wrong. They know how to stay in office - let the bigots win.
