In George Pal’s 1953 version of War of the Worlds, the second Martian machine to land comes down in Huntington Beach. This prompted an Army officer at the first landing place, (some undefined but close by part of rural California) to quip “That’s a job for the Navy!” The action in HB was not shown but it is unlikely that the Earth forces there did any better than their colleagues at the original site once the Martians deployed their heat rays,

The first location was supposed to be near Linda Rosa, the site of a no longer existing town near Murrieta and Temecula CA. It was a ghost town after the 1890s and now sits within the city limits of Murrieta.
