Yeah they seem to think the solution is people like Rubio, Cruz, Haley, Jindal, etc. I won’t use the term token here but voters of minority backgrounds want to see more than just “Hey we’re not bigots here’s a so and so American who belongs to our party.” I think Begala also made an interesting point that perhaps their emphasis on individualism above all alienates some voters too since community is a very important cultural aspect to many groups.
