The Sandanistas weren’t democratically elected. The only election they held prior to 1990 was a sham. They were an aggressive and predatory satellite of the Soviet Union and Latin America was better once they were out of power.

I think you should go visit Central America and see what a paradise the Reagan era bequeathed to the people of that region.
