I personally am still of the opinion that Pelosi reacted to the tide rather than waited in anticipation of it, that she saw in that op-ed last Monday and the subsequent declarations of support that followed behind it that continuing to oppose impeachment was hazardous to her political future.

I think that she was in favor of it but knew that if it backfired, both her own career and the whole party would suffer from it. There is only one right moment to leap out of cover to tackle a sitting President and I think she chose her moment well.

I still have the image of the veteran rock and roller waiting backstage as the crowd is cheering and calling out for them to appear, the younger band members are getting antsy and looking at the stage door, but Nancy keeps her cool until she senses the moment is right…
