It wouldn’t make much sense. Guns are something that really aren’t that useful; on very rare occasions they are. They also have some inherent dangers with them. That’s a rather flawed metaphor.

Honestly to give the devil his do I think you could also describe Heathcare as being something that isn’t that useful except on those rare ocassions when if you need it YOU REALLY NEED IT.

That said your second point still stands, that making it so that everyone of legal age and of proper mental facilities owns a gun comes with its own risks…
