Yes, and I’ve read that real estate operators are refurbishing the old Stalinist-era apt blocks inside the Ring Road and making a killing, either selling or renting them, also.

The Stalinist-era buildings were built to last and are worth refurbishing, but starting in the 60’s, they started knocking up hideous prefab housing units that were only built to last for 30 years,

Why only 30 years? It was fully expected that by then, True Communism would have triumped and the people would be able to more substantial housing.

So a lot of these buildings are 20 years past their best-by date and have also been only minimally maintained.
