I’d have to disagree with you. For example his rationale for taking up the defense of Klaus von Bulow was that the rich family hired private investigators to hand cherry-picked evidence to the prosecution. He also made the case that taking high profile cases funded his pursuit of low profile cases involving poor defendants. Admittedly this is lifted from the movie “Reversal of Fortune” but I never heard anybody say those reasons weren’t true. Just because a lawyer takes the unpopular side doesn’t make him a sleaze. John Adams famously defended the English soldiers accused in the Boston Massacre (I originally typed Boston Market!) and I think he remains well-respected.
