Most people have some sort of internal logic/rationale. The key is figuring out what it is for someone like Trump. He may be so angry and vile at this point that there’s no way to reason with him, even if you understand his internal logic. At that point, all you can do is exploit his weaknesses and cause him to come crashing down.

Trump is clearly a special case, but the casual acceptance of IOKIYAR among Republicans is already a formidable obstacle to reasoning and rational persuasion.

Taking ‘party over country’ to the extremes that Republicans do is setting the US up for a civil war.
