Back when I worked for the airlines, I was flying home with a few pilots after a convention in DFW. We had a guy at the gate, shirtless, with a dressed but filthy child. As we still had a ton of swag, we gave the guy a free t-shirt, which he readily accepted. But he didn’t put it on. To avoid a rukus, they let him board with his carryon, and just before the pushback of the plane, the FA asked over the PA for him to come up to the front of the plane. He came up with his bag, the ground agent asked him to step off the plane for a moment to check his ticket, once he did….bam!, the airplane door closed and we pushed back.
