Two things are true of Trump:

1) He is a festering malignancy uniquely dangerous to democracy in America, and

2) He is the perfectly natural result of the ongoing degeneration of the Republican Party. He is their next Reagan, and for the foreseeable future all major GOP candidates will try to be Trump, one way or another.

Yes. I’ve been thinking about number two a lot and it worries the hell out of me going forward. Trump losing would have made that situation less likely but his electoral success has created a new GOP that will mirror him in the worst ways.
