Trump has to find judges that he can know will do his bidding. Many “conservative” judges may not be the favorite by the usual suspects in the religious-right propaganda machine in DC (who are propping up Trump) because said judges may be less willing to do Trump’s bidding.

I think this is why we see the number of long-time self-declared conservatives be never-Trumpers. They know that Trump’s only use of them has nothing to do with their beliefs but only to do with how willing they would be to do Trump’s will.

It is a bit amazing that so many Americans who love to call themselves “conservative” cannot bring themselves to this reckoning also. So many hare deeply, deeply bought into an identity by which they close off any critical thought.
