Hence Palin’s and the rest of the teaparty leaders’ popularity. They all say a lot of nothing: word salad rants, factless and debunked talking points, and hate filled-rhetoric. That’s all it takes to be popular among the right-wing today.

It’s been done before, in many places with alarming success. All you need is is to whip up fear and resentment, and find a convenient scapegoat for it all.
