if we do let them cross, we have, in fact given them certain rights they didnt have before. and they did not cross illegally. we let them come in to have their asylum case adjudicated

No he is not stupid. He is a stupendous liar however.

All of the Republican politicians conflating “asylum” with “unlawful border crossing” are intentionally doing that to spin up racist conservatives.

They know the law, they are lying to voters.
